The chair had failed the first life-test at the American furniture company La-Z-Boy, and it was therefore very important for the chair to pass this second test.
DIS was approved by the U.S. furniture manufacturer to perform the test. Based on power calculations and FEM analysis, DIS made a few adjustments to the design of the chair's back, and subesquently the lifetime test was performed on the chair’s reclining function.
At the DIS testing and workshop facilities, the chair was exposed to more than 100,000 cycles with a load of 129 kg. The test was completed in less than six days and delivered with strict specifications to Nordic Easy Chair, who could pass the specifications on to the furniture company, following of which the chair was approved for the US market.
